Next Step Computing Acceptable Use Policy General Comments: Next Step Computing provides dial-up Internet access for the general public at a flat monthly rate. Our dial-up connections are available for our registered users and their immediate household members. Users may connect as often as they wish to “surf” the internet, exchange email, transfer files, access software, etc. While every attempt is made to provide sufficient dial-in connections to avoid busy signals, at times of peak activity a busy signal may occur. To keep dial-in connections open, and as a courtesy to other users, we request that you disconnect from the servers when you are finished. The following actions will cause your account to be disabled and/or terminated: · Violation of our Acceptable Use Policy · Violation of government laws and regulations · Attempted efforts, and indirect efforts, to violate our policies and government laws Dialup Access: Although one user account may have multiple email names associated with it, there may only be a single instance of that user account connected to our servers at any given time. Our servers will disconnect after 30 minutes of inactivity and after 8 hours of continuous connection. A timeout disconnection does not prevent you from immediately reconnecting; the intent is to prevent unattended computers from tying up dial-in connections. The following activities are prohibited: · Enabling your computer or user account to maintain a connection when it is not actively in use by you · Attempting to bypass automatic disconnection from our servers for inactivity · Using your account to connect a server to the internet · Having multiple simultaneous connections to our servers for one user account · Enabling use of your user account by others outside of your household Email accounts: Email accounts are intended for use by individuals and members of the same household. The following activities are prohibited: · Sending unsolicited bulk email Web Space (WWW): Web space provided to individual dial-up accounts is for personal use only and may not be used for commercial purposes. Web space may not contain adult-oriented material. |
