Win95/98 Setup:
- What You Need to Get Started:
- An dialup account with our service
- Your Login Name (5082xxxx)
- Your password

- Start: Turn on your computer ;-)
Creating The Connection
- Open the My Computer
icon.
- Open the Dial-Up
networking icon.
- Open the make New
Connection icon.
- Enter "nscnet"
for the name of the computer you are dialing.
- Your modem should be
already selected and appear as selected.
- Click Next.
- Enter the phone number for
nscnet. For example, if you are local to Dansville you would enter 335-9589.
- Click next.
- Click Finish.
The nscnet Dial-Up
icon is now in My Computer under Dial Up Networking
- Highlight the nscnet
icon by clicking with the right mouse button. A small menu should appear. Click on Properties
with the left mouse button.
- Choose Server Type.
- The type of server should
be PPP (Though it might also have a bunch of other options listed in it as well.)
- Uncheck everything
except enable software compression and TCP/IP.
- click OK.
- Once more click the
nscnet icon with the right mouse button. After the small menu appears click on
the "Create Shortcut" option.
- When prompted by the
"can not create shortcut here error message just click on "Yes".
- Now close dial-up
networking and all other windows which may be open.
You are now ready to
dial in to nscnet
- Double click on the icon
that says "Shortcut to nscnet".
- Type in the username and
password as specified when you signed up.
- Click on the
"connect" button.
- Once dialed into us you are
free to explore the internet. So bring up Internet explorer, Netscape, etc...
